About Kathleen Rasinowich-Platt
Originally from Minnesota, Kathy has lived in Illinois, Iowa and now Papillion, Nebraska. She has trained horses and dogs for 30 years.

Kathy is a graduate from the University of Wisconsin, River Falls. She majored in Agricultural Business and minored in Animal Science. She began competing in AKC and Canadian events in 1988 with her Labrador retriever, Frannie. Kathy earned her first UD title with Frannie and she became a Flyball Dog Champion. Wrigley became a part of her family in 1995. Wrigley got his name "First String's Cubby Bear” because of Kathy's interest in the Chicago Cubs and a little bar across the street from Wrigley field, called the Cubby Bear.

Wrigley and Kathy's obedience career started by accident. Wrigley was intended to be an agility dog, when a local agility trial was full; Kathy entered the obedience trial that was being offered the same weekend instead. The weekend was a success, earning a CD title! Since then, Wrigley has earned his UDX, Obedience Trial Championship, numerous High in Trial and High Combined awards, he has also placed in the top 10 All Breed and Golden Retriever rankings and other rating systems for the last 4 years. He has placed 3rd, 4th and 2nd at the AKC National Obedience Invitational in the Sporting Group, inducted into the Golden Retriever Hall of Fame. Currently, Wrigley has earned over 2,900 OTCH points in his career. And in 2005, he was the AKC National Obedience Invitational Champion.

Kathy works full time as a Business Analyst. Kathy and her husband, Gary Platt, have a part-time dog training business teaching puppy classes to the public, preparing advanced students for competition, conducting problem solving seminars and 4-day obedience camps.

Kathy is honored to be selected as the first alternate for the 2005 AKC/USA Obedience team.

2005 AKC National Obedience Invitational Champion (NOI): Dogs were invited to participate in the National Obedience Invitational based on the number of OTCH points accumulated at obedience trials from July 1, 2003 through June 30, 2004. One hundred and forty dog and handler teams came from thirty-nine states. Fifty-nine different breeds participated in the unique format designed specifically for the National Obedience Invitational. The 2005 NOI was of particular interest because of the versatility of titles earned -- twenty-one dogs are breed champions, fifty-four have obtained agility titles, eight with tracking titles and ten herding titles.

The 2005 AKC National Obedience Invitational Champion was OTCH First String's Cubby Bear UDX20 AX NAJ CGC (aka: Wrigley), a Golden Retriever, owned by Kathleen Rasinowich-Platt of Papillion, NE.

ForKathy also showed her Golden Retriever, OTCH First String's Liv'n on the Edge UDX3, NA, NAJ (aka: Shale). He won a run off to take first place in the Sporting Group on Saturday, January 15th. He was second highest score overall 140 dogs competing. He also made it to the Finals on Sunday, but was eliminated in the first round. What an unbelievable weekend for Gary and Kathy and their four legged companions!

I would like to thank my husband Gary for his support and guidance, the members of CDC for their time in putting on the monthly matches, and for our family, friends and students for their love and support. It means so much to me. Lastly, I am so blessed to have a companion such as Wrigley. He is one of the sweetest dogs I have ever knowing is and is so willing to do anything for me. He has made me a firm believer that dreams do come true.
